We decided that it was time to take our first family vacation to Monterey/Carmel/Big Sur a few weekends ago. I learned a few important lessons:
1. When you bring kids with you...especially when you have a 2yr old and a 7 month old, it WONT really be a vacation.
2. Naps are crucial to happiness
3. Eating too many carmeled apples will make you sick, even if they are the tastiest thing you have ever had
4. If you stay up late enough, you will laugh harder than you ever have before.
5. If you have a child sleeping in the bathroom (in a pack and play) you will inevitably have to use the bathroom every few hours!
We really had so much fun. We got to go to the Monterey Bay aquarium and see sharks (Ty's favorite), run 6 miles up and down the coast, see the ocean from our balcony and watch the otters splash around, get a massage and facial at the spa (THANK YOU Scotty), find a secluded beach up in Big Sur and play in the water and watch the water splash up on the rocks, eat some delicious seafood, take a bike ride with the kids around Monterey, and see some of the prettiest sights I have ever seen! I have to say though, one of my favorite parts was getting to be with Scotty all day long! It was so fun to be together and laugh and play....it felt like we were dating again...and then the kids would cry and we would be brought back to reality! It was awesome!
